6 Easy steps to creating a web service using Warewolf

We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our user experience. In putting together a 6-step slide show to illustrate the core concepts of using Warewolf, it became amazingly clear just how simple and easy it is to create and use a web service with Warewolf.

For anyone new to using Warewolf, we hope you find this useful – it’s really no more complex than this. Of course when you want to do the really fancy stuff with Warewolf you need to know more detail, but we have left that to the picture-filled user guides.

Step 1: Start by creating a new service. Click the New Service button.

Step 2: Drag on the tools and services you need to design your web service. There are over 70 prebuilt tools and connectors in the Toolbox at your disposal. Plus you can re-use your existing services and resources from the Explorer.

Step 3: Configure your [[variables]] and make sure you select the Inputs and Outputs you need in the Variables list. For more info on the Warewolf Syntax, read this article.

Step 4: Debug and test your service. Simply click the Debug button and view the debug output in the Output box. It’s the easiest way to check your configuration and logic before putting your service to work.

Step 5: Name and Save your web service by clicking the Save button and following the prompts. Your web service will be stored in the Explorer where you can access it at any time, and re-use it in another service. (Nifty eh?)

Step 6: Use your web service from anywhere with its unique URI, clicking on it will also run your service in the browser.

It’s as simple and easy as that! Feel free to reach out to us in the Community if you need help any step of the way.
