Build a microservice based API in just 45 seconds

This blog post is in response to Richard Mendis’ post on Infoworld in July 21st 2015 called “Build an API for microservices in 5 minutes”. The Article describes AnyPresence’s  JustAPIs , which is a great product.

We were a little amused by the article because we know how fast we can build production ready RESTful microservices using Warewolf. To demonstrate how fast Warewolf is, I created a short video to show you how quickly and easily a developer can develop production ready microservices with Warewolf.

Although I made the video for a bit of fun, the underlying technology is sound. I built a production ready RESTful API, that can output both JSON and XML in just 45 seconds.

Impossible?  Well, not at all.  The reason being is that Warewolf is a Platform that handles the entire underlying infrastructure, and makes it available to developers as a service layer. The microservice development platform simply creates microservices that run in containers within the service layer, and the infrastructure is transparent to developers.

This service layer frees Warewolf developers up to focus on the important stuff – i.e. constructing effective logic.

In the demonstration, I create a new microservice inside the Warewolf Studio, create a database connector that retrieves data from a stored procedure based on a parameter input, and then output the data via the microservice endpoint in both JSON and XML formats.

Warewolf is a real game changer.  If you would really be interested in seeing how much we could actually build in 5 minutes with Warewolf we are up to the challenge. Leave your comments below.

Please post a direct comparison video, i.e the video on infoworld shows a hello world service. How long would this take and how would it be achieved?

WOW! All I can say is WOW that is impressive. I will definitely be taking a deeper look at Warewolf. Oh! and thanks for the quick response.
