2015 Year in review – Warewolf

2015 has been an absolute highlight in the progress of Warewolf! We gave away tons of exclusive Warewolf T-shirts to the awesome people in the community who have helped with everything from open source dev to feedback on UX. Contact us if you would like to get in on this action. Here are some of the big wins and exciting moments we celebrated this year:

Quality clients and case studies

Starting out and bringing new clients on board is one of the toughest things to do in an established market. Despite that, we have found awesome traction and excitement in response to our product offering. We’ve also been getting some great user stories. You can read more here.

Speed and performance

A big focus for part of the team is making Warewolf super performant. We had a big win when we built our own execution engine to run alongside the Microsoft one.  We’ve seen a very cool 18 X speed improvement on nested execution and a howling 25 X improvement on normal execution! We’ve seen other speed boosts from simplifying the Scheduler Debug output and a lot of other, little tweaks in the system.

Introduction of SharePoint tools and connectors

We introduced new SharePoint integration tools to manage Microsoft SharePoint and SharePoint Online lists. You can Create List Item, Read List Item, Update List Item and Delete List Item directly inside Warewolf. You’ll spot these in the Toolbox.

APIs.json and Swagger

In August we introduced APIs.json for discovery and Swagger v2.0 for API definition and metadata. Any Warewolf user can have their services discovered automatically and have a standard way for others to consume their services. You don’t have to do anything special, or install anything extra. Get all the details here.

BOSSIE award

Warewolf was a winner of the 2015 BOSSIE awards by InfoWorld for best open source application. We were taken by surprise and of course completely delighted to be getting this kind of recognition pre-version 1!

On-Demand Resources in Azure

With Windows Azure, you are now able to scale your Warewolf Server on-demand, to grow along with your business needs. Easily create services with Warewolf that run reliably and scale from 10 to 10 thousand or even 10 million users — without writing a single line of code, simply spin up a Warewolf VM from the Azure Store. This offering is going to change the way you do business, in the best way possible!

What’s coming in 2016?

What Warewolf ESB is bringing in 2016

We can’t spill all the beans, but here are some very awesome things coming your way in the new year:

New Studio and Version 1

While we’re very much post-Beta, we’re not quite officially Version 1. We’re really excited to be bringing you Version 1 early in 2016. With this you will get the brand new, and beautiful Warewolf Studio. Some of the awesome features in the new Studio include improved in-context help, nice performance increases (50% faster loading the workflow designer and swapping tabs), a slick new UI, an even simpler interface and all the things you asked for! We will also be officially supporting Windows 10 with this release. If you’d like to get involved early, come see what we’re doing in the code base.

Free Warewolf Training

We’re putting a lot of resource into free Warewolf training. These self-taught training guides have been quality tested and revised for super usability. We will take you from basic concept and navigating the Studio, right through to building complex and powerful applications. This is going to be a big one.

New connectors and integrations

2016 will also see an introduction of numerous standard connectors and integrations into commonly used products. You can expect to have a suite of tools to easily integrate with over 25 products from Azure Storage Blob to Yammer. If you’d like to add to our list, please add your suggestion in the Community Forum and we’ll see what we can do!

Wishing all our users and customers the very best for 2016!
